Bulbophyllum species blooming at
Kawamoto Orchids, Honolulu, Hawaii. Many Bulbophyllums are pollinated by flies and, as opposed to their sweeter smelling cousins the Cattleyas, can therefore be a teensy bit pungent. The lip (seen in the front of the flower) is, in many species, mobile and moves up and down with the wind or any movement.
