Long Dry Summer

Yucca seed pods after a long, dry Summer. Sometimes there is beauty even after the flowers have faded. Or, perhaps, the setting sun just makes everything glow a little nicer.

Stunning Yucca!

This Yucca was in bloom at the botanical gardens the other day. Yucca are attractive, drought tolerant plants that take a long while to get to blooming size. However, when they bloom, it is quite a show! I'm not sure which species of yucca this is or, I suppose, that it is truly a yucca. Either way, it had a huge crowd of bees and was very spectacular.

Prickly Beauty

I was at the Botanical Gardens as the sun was setting and it is just amazing how everything lights up in the setting sun. Here is a picture of a really beautiful miniature yucca that was just blooming like a banshee (do banshees bloom?)! The little micro-bunnies were out munching and the bullfrogs were starting to croak. It was really peaceful. If only my back yard looked like that!
