Surfing Imperial Beach

Imperial beach was empty today. There were some nice waves and only two surfers along the entire beach. It was a tad cold but if you don't like competing for waves, it doesn't get any better.

Another shot from a wonderful sunny day at Sunset beach on the North Shore of Hawaii. That's got to be a total adrenaline high, slicing though those waves.

There are some amazing surfers at Sunset Beach, Hawaii, and some really big waves. I caught this guy right in the middle of the curl! Wow.

Wipeout or Not?

Now that's a pretty precarious angle if I say so myself but those feet are still firmly planted on the board. What do you think? Wipeout? Or not? This is one more photo from my series of photos at Sunset Beach in Hawaii.

Amazing Surfers

These guys just amaze me. It's like watching someone ski down a vertical slope. They make it all look so natural and graceful like they totally own the wave. These were not small waves either, as I was at Sunset beach in the winter time. I could sit on the sand and watch for hours. Do you suppose it's too late to learn?

Face Plant

If you're going to face plant anyhow, do it in style! More pictures from Sunset Beach on Oahu. This guy got some great air and a pretty nice run before he went feet up.

Sunset Beach

They had a surfing contest going at Sunset Beach. Unfortunately, I got there just as it was ending so I missed the competition. I settled for a few shots of the surfers up the beach catching the waves. One surfer actually caught about 5 ft of air and landed back on the wave and rode it in. Pretty doggone amazing. I suppose I could have been out there when I was a kid instead of studying calculus, eh? Hmmm. Looks like more fun anyhow.

Enjoying the Last Rays

Some people enjoying the last few rays of the setting sun at Mission beach. It was pretty warm out and good enough to dabble in the shallow water.

Mission Beach Sunsets

It was really hazy today. When we have high pollution days it normally means that there is going to be an awesome, color-stoked sunset.

As if on cue, there was a glorious sunset at Mission Beach. Brilliant shades of orange, red and yellows reflecting off the water. You can see two surfers trying to get in that one last wave although, overall, the ocean was pretty calm.
