Where There is Rain, There are Rainbows

Where there is rain, there are rainbows.  In Hawaii, at least during some Winter seasons, it will rain almost every day in the mountains.  Thus, there is the incongruity of having hot, Summer-like, sunny weather at the beach while gazing back towards rainbows over the mountains.  This rainbow was seen looking back at the hills from Ala Moana Beach Park.  This year, we've seen at least one rainbow every single day; that's something that never seems to get old.

Double Rainbow Over Waikiki

Rainy morning over Waikiki. There were big warm drops of tropical rain falling from the sky, being whipped lightly by the ocean breeze. As I wondered somewhat retrospectively if I should have covered the lens on the SLR, a glorious double rainbow shone brightly over the ocean, somehow making it all a new, exciting adventure.

Rainbow over Kapa'a

Rainbow over Kapa'a, Hawaii. In the distance is Mahukona Harbor. This is the dry side of the island of Hawaii. However, even on the dry side, there are beautiful rainbows in the middle of August.

Pot of Gold

Golden bromeliads beneath a Wahiawa rainbow. Well, I couldn't find that doggone pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. With this economy, the menehunes (mythical little people in Hawaii) probably spent it. However, there were some beautiful golden bromeliads (Portea species?) in full bloom and that was good enough to put a smile on my face.
