Nodding Lilly

I found this lilly in bloom at the local botanical gardens. It seems a little late for lillies but wow, what a bloom!

Would You Kiss This Frog?

The water lillies are blooming and the frogs are out enjoying the sun. This little frog has staked out his own private lilly pad! The lilly pond is at the Quail Botanical Gardens.

Quail Botanical Gardens Plant Sale

This Protea was one of many wonderful plants for sale today at the Annual Quail Botanical Gardens Plant sale. We ended up with two geraniums, one that smells like spearmint and the other like chocolate, two tomatos and a bunch of succulents for the garden.

Rufous Hummingbird

I found this Rufous Hummingbird hanging out at the Quail Botanical gardens the other day. It's pretty amazing that a flash works this well at about 20 feet distance but he was just hanging out and I was keeping the Nikon very busy. These guys are one of the few hummingbird species (as in only) that migrate all the way up to Alaska although this one obviously found a good thing at the Botanical Gardens here in San Diego.
