Echinopsis oxygona and Echinopsis oxygona alba

The cacti have been blooming for the last month.  That includes Echinopsis, Tricocereus, Echinocereus and Epiphyllums as well as a Cereus repandus (Peruvian Apple Cactus).  Here's some pictures of Echinopsis oxygona from the back patio.

White Echinopsis and The Bee Backstroke

The bees were doing the backstroke in pollen in my Echinopsis the other day.  Better yet, there were about eight flowers open!  There were so many bees that I ended up shutting the patio door to keep them out.

Echinopsis Bloom Fest!

Echinopsis (oxygona?) in full bloom. My little Echinopsis had over 20 huge flowers this year! What a display. I must be doing something right.

Just a Little Echinopsis...

Easter Cactus, Echinopsis oxygona? I found this lovely little plant looking all alone at Armstrong Nursery and, behold, it had two buds on it as well (not to mention about 12 pups!!)! Alas, the willpower caved in and, with a little help from the credit card, this Echinopsis is now part of the Wayward cacti collection. There was a little tag on it that said Easter Cacti (although it is blooming completely out of season). Still, these are always quite a statement, no matter what time of year they bloom!

Easter Cactus, Echinopsis oxygona? The label just said Easter Cactus, Echinopsis species. oxygona is a guess but I'm open to suggestions. Whatever species (or hybrid) it is, it sure is a beauty. Two humongous, gorgeous, flamingo pink blossoms greeted me this morning. It's motivation for a whole new day. There are a bunch of buds still on the way as well. Wowzer...
