Snuggled up with the Toys...

Dogs life... Don't dogs have it great? Surround by toys and a nice warm blanket on his very own lounge chair! It doesn't get any better.

Do the Dogs have it Right?

The lies and demagoguery of the presidential election are getting me down. I saw these two dogs at the town fair the other day and wondered if the dogs are on to something! A quick sniff and a doggie kiss and everyone gets along just fine. Well, most of the time, anyhow.

Taking the Effort Out

I ran into these two cute little dogs on Imperial Beach. They look like chihuahua mixes of some sort. I snapped their picture to show the leash that keeps them both heading in the same direction and tugging on each other rather than on their owner in the middle. Pretty cool invention!

Water Dog

This little dog has a hunting streak in him. There was a flock of American Coots that was slowly swimming out of reach while his owner kept ahold of the leash. Silly little dog wanted to go swim out after them (as if a swimming dog could really catch up with a Coot!). I suppose it's the spirit that counts!

Cat lovers or Dog lovers: Who Rules?

I found this very beautiful cat looking back through the rocks, possibly in case one of his bretheren were about to pounce. So I've been having this conversation over whether cats or dogs are better. Here's a little something to get you started. For cats: smell better, good groomers, can be left alone, smarter (???); for dogs: faithful to a fault, always happy to see you, will go running with you. Against cats: can be aloof, can pack a nasty paw, chock full of allergens; Against dogs: more maintenance, smelly when wet, can be hyper. What do you think? Do the cats have it? Or do the dogs?

Water Dog

This guy is clearly a water dog. He was having way too much fun chasing the birds. While he didn't catch any and it is a "dog beach," you'll not find too many birds nesting around there. It does make me miss my old dog a bit as well although she was definitely not a water dog.

Out for a Stroll

Dog and I were enjoying the nice weather on Saturday. The ice plant is in full bloom and the fruit trees have the first hints of peaches. Meanwhile, the weather has finally warmed up in Arlington and the class is going well. The jetlag is still causing me some grief but hopefully tonight I'll be able to sleep decently. In the meantime, I managed to retake some of the pictures with the setting sun. They should be nice.

The "Doggie Eye"

Shelties are generally not water dogs; however, this sheltie is being braver then most, entering the cold salty water up to his shins. However, he is definitely giving his master the "doggy eye" and perhaps thinking that cold salty water is no place for a sheltie. I had to laugh at this since it is the same look my dog gives me when she doesn't get treats in her dogfood.
