I hate when photo opportunities come by and I don't have my Nikon. I had my little pocket cannon elf with me when these American Coots flew by and boy oh boy was I missing my Nikon. You get one shot on a slow camera like the elf. If it is blurry, it is blurry. It's good enough for you to get the general effect anyhow. They were out grazing on the grass and I was trying to get between them and the water so I could take their picture as they walked to the water. However, these coots were pretty skittish and lifted up as a big flock to fly to the water. There is something about a huge flock of birds flying that is still amazingly cool to me. Maybe that is just the kid speaking...
